The Kulhad the Indian version of ‘Opa’

The kulhad or kulhar has been an important part of traditional India, a small unglazed clay cup the perfect biodegradable option for their delicious chai.
Chai wallahs (chai merchants) fill the streets of India serving up these beautiful clay cups.
The cups are made by local artisans that fire them at high tempretures producing a very sterile cup, once the customer drinks the chai they then smash the cup ensuring they are unable to be reused but return quickly to the earth unlike plastic or styrofoam.
Providing India with a cheaper option that also is said to give the chai an earthy aroma enjoyed by many.
